From my button-on collection, the ultimate rustic: Antique Lewis & Clark-era North American trade bead necklace. Circa 1800s padre beads in various shades of soft, earthy white. Buttons on with a flower-shaped button from the 1940s. It measures about 20 inches around, and is finished with twin brass and faceted gold hematite fringe ends. An easy, casual look inside a shirt collar. Wear it alone or layered.

JEWELRY: My favorite metal is antiqued brass. All of my jewelry contains some brass, and occasionally sterling silver as well. Over time, some metal elements may develop a deeper tone. A gentle buffing with a jewelry polishing cloth will revive the luster and golden or silver highlights. Lay the piece flat on a towel, secure the metal part firmly with one hand, and buff the surface using gentle pressure.
SCARVES: All of my antique fabrics are laundered before being sewn. The scarves may be hand washed. Use a small amount of mild soap in lukewarm water. Roll in a towel to remove excess water, and dry flat. Press lightly with a warm iron.
