Lovely scarf in French cotton, vermillion with birds and flowers, rare antique fabric

$220.00

A lightweight cotton scarf in luscious shades of vermillion. This rescued and reused 19th century French fabric is faded to perfection, with the faintest pink and ochre adding to the exquisite colorway. Trimmed with antique cluny lace with pinked edge. Perhaps the lace is French-made as well. Just a whisp of frayed ends. Center seam on the back side, with a sliver of a mend in a different fabric that only you will see. I strive not to waste even a scrap of these precious fabrics, with the charming imperfections. The scarf measures about 52x8.5 inches. Antique brass ring to cinch high or low.

Frequently Asked Questions

Care instructions

JEWELRY: My favorite metal is antiqued brass. All of my jewelry contains some brass, and occasionally sterling silver as well. Over time, some metal elements may develop a deeper tone. A gentle buffing with a jewelry polishing cloth will revive the luster and golden or silver highlights. Lay the piece flat on a towel, secure the metal part firmly with one hand, and buff the surface using gentle pressure.

SCARVES: All of my antique fabrics are laundered before being sewn. The scarves may be hand washed. Use a small amount of mild soap in lukewarm water. Roll in a towel to remove excess water, and dry flat. Press lightly with a warm iron.
